In this episode we’re creating operational definitions of mindfulness, examining the science behind addiction, and looking at how research is indicating that mindfulness can be a powerful tool in lowering rates of addiction relapse.


about Dr. Mark Schwarze

Dr. Mark Schwarze is an Associate Professor and Program Director in the Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling focusing on Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He has a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from North Carolina State University. He is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, Nationally Certified Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and Certified Clinical Supervisor. Dr. Schwarze is also a member of the North Carolina Board for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors and a former President of the North Carolina Counseling Association. His research interests include mindfulness interventions in counseling and addictions treatment and counselor development.
