Introduction

This is our first episode together. I wanted to take five minutes to not only introduce this podcast, but to also introduce myself. My name is Reese Wells. My pronouns are he / him /his. I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate with a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapies. I received my masters in counseling from Appalachian State University, where I concentrated in body-mind counseling. As a clinically trained body-mind therapist, my focus is on holism and present-moment awareness. My practice is rooted in the theoretical lens of person-centered therapy, which embodies growth within safe, non-judgmental relationships. My practice is evidence-based, and I have a hunger for the latest research coming from the growing field of mental health.

I also have a desire for connection. The Counseling Connection podcast is here to explore what is happening in the mental health professions. In our episodes we will discuss current research, offer psychoeducation, share stories, and conduct interviews from prominent members in these helping fields. The hope is to facilitate a space where professionals, students, and anyone with an interest in mental health can connect and explore topics relevant to their interests.

It’s important for me say. The Counseling Connection podcast is not mental health counseling. Though the topics we will cover may delve into therapies and modalities that resonate with you, it does not substitute for time spent in session with a clinician.

The Counseling Connection is available wherever you get your podcasts. You may also visit reesewells.com to access supplemental materials that may be posted with these episodes – research articles, guest bios, book links, stuff like that.

One last thing. And this is an open invitation. If you have topics that you would like discussed, please let me know. If you have story that you would like to share, please reach out. I believe that we are on this journey together, walking a shared path.

I look forward to the connection. Until then, have a wonderful day.
