about Karen Caldwell

Karen Caldwell, Ph.D., LMFT, REAT is a Professor in the Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling at Appalachian State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech, a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy from Appalachian State University, and Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Seminary. Dr. Caldwell’s research focuses on the interrelationship of physical and mental functioning, as well as issues of diversity and social justice. She has served on numerous scientific review panels for the National Institutes of Health. She teaches expressive arts therapies to graduate students and tai chi chuan to undergraduate students.
